weightless

One year ago today I started my weight loss journey. I decided not to wait for the new year to jump off before I got my shit in gear and DID SOMETHING about my condition. Believe it or not, I had (have) a long way to go to get to my ultimate goal. However, my shorter term goal is closer than ever.

I’ve managed to lose 45 lbs this year. I know, you’re thinking, “DAMN, and you STILL have more to lose???” Yeah, I do. But I just wanted to take a moment to stop and appreciate the hard work I’ve put in to get this far, and the changes I’ve made to better my life. This past year was about changing the way I ate. I’ve been VERY successful at identifying my poor eating habits, and how to correct them. I realized that I had no clue what I was doing, and I was on a path of destruction. I’m so thankful for the awakening, because at the rate I was going, I was gonna eat myself to death. No lie.

This next year, I’m focusing on activity. Moving my body and giving my heart the workout that it deserves. I recently started doing some exercise at home after work, and by the end of a 30 min session, I was dying (if not before the end). A young 25 yr old woman should surely be able to move her body for 30 minutes without passing out.

so.not.sexy.

That was another awakening that I needed to get into shape and get fit. Not (necessarily) thin, but fit. And able. Able to be an active member of my life. I don’t know if I’ll start chronicling the journey using this site, but I wanted to make the declaration so you all are witness to my commitment. Thats what helped me succeed this first year with my weight loss goals, and I thank everyone who participated in the long trek from there to here. I couldn’t have continued without your support.

So here’s to the next year of goals, dreams, aspiration, purpose, and weightloss!

And I plan to restore my archives (hopefully) before next year, or shortly thereafter. I wouldn’t mind taking a look back to see where I’ve been, and use it as motivation to get where I’m going……and never return.

Wow, 45 lbs.?? You truely are an inspiration. Although I’m overly fat, as I like to call it, I am over my ideal healthy weight and reading this, it really has hit home for me to go back to what I used to be.

When I was younger I played three sports, so I was always active and really fit, but once I turned 15-16 and started high school, I only played for one year and then after that I got really bad and school and couldn’t play. Since then, I’ve just been packing the pounds and haven’t been watching what I eat and it’s been horrible. But not anymore, I will put a stop to this and go back to my ideal weight once again!!!

Thank you! And I hope that you are able to keep on with your goals and dreams, even though I know you will. =)

*applause* I am so happy for you. And you know I totally feel where you’re coming from.

I am also happy that you’re making these changes early while your metabolism is still high. I started my journey 2 years after you and I wish I would have done it at 25. Then I wouldn’t be trying to live like I’m 25. LOL! You’re so right, be an active participant in YOUR life. As cliche as it is, you only get one.

Again, I am thrilled for you and I know you’re going to get there.

I’m glad to have been around (via cyberspace) to witness your transformation, and I’m so grateful that you have been around for mine. Next year, we step it up! “It’s on, get the Patron and tell em that it’s ON!”

    congratulations B.Good
that sounds like some hard work
you are right about that needing to be able to move!
I look thin most of the time but can hardly get up 2 flights without getting winded. *smh*
I’m planning on doing something about my endurance this year too.

Congrats on the 45lbs! I wish you much success with the workouts. I find it much easier when it’s something I enjoy. Salsa dancing was a God send. An hour and 15min class of constant movement was good cardio and I learned something useful on top of it! I will be doing the intermdiate next semester! Viva la Salsa!

Congratulations on the weightloss and the motivation to continue with it. I agree with Serenity, if you choose something you love it will be easier to stick with it.

I’m all late, but congrats!! I know how good it feels to loose weight so I say again CONGRATS!!! I’m getting myself together as well. I want to finally reach my goal and STAY there. No more getting close, getting comfortable and then slipping up. This year is my year to get all the areas of my life together that need some straightening out!
