brotha, my brotha

Oooo, let me tell yall……I know what a BLACK man sounds like, ya heard?

There’s a white guy that sits next to me in the office, but he mostly works from home. He rarely comes into the office. Well, maybe once a week. Maybe.

So as usual, I’m sittin in my cubicle, minding my own business…writing a blog. Thats when I hear this voice, this frequency that is ever so familiar to thine ears, coming from the white mans cube. My ears immediately perk up and tilt to the right to hear it more clearly. Yup, its a black man. Well, being that there are only a handful of them here…and I know (of) most of ‘em, I had to see who this was. He didn’t sound like the usual suspects.

I ain’t wanna be obvious about it, but I didn’t wanna miss out either. Curse this slight, faux wall that lies between us! Just then, someone comes along to introduce himself to the brotha and welcome him to the team. Ah ha, he is a new hire.

I casually turn my head to the right and lean back to catch a glimpse of homie.

Con-firmed. (nothing to write home about, but enough to blog about)

Is this from years of conditioning? I honestly couldn’t help myself.

LOL… they usually have more bass in their voice… usually.

sometimes you can be fooled, particularly by people with serous country accents. i was at the bus stop one day and had to rudely stare at a black dude who sounded like a country white man. i just couldn’t reconcile his face and his voice.

lol… There is something about a black mans voice huh? lol
