If I Ever……

……see THIS posted up in someone’s house……

RED LEATHER COUCH!   RED LEATHER COUCH!

WHY LAWD? WHHYYYYY????

……and got the nerve to try and sell this monstrosity to someone else. Your dumbass shouldn’t have bought it in the first place.

Really tho.

Who buys a red leather sofa?

Was it ever in style?

The owners said they paid $5000 for it.

WHEN??

I can’t even come up with a decade where this would’ve been acceptable.

I doubt you’d ever see this mess on Top Design.

This shit is so damn hilarious!

I’m Long Overdue

Its beyond time for me to upgrade my phone. Seriously. I went to dinner with some old friends from college - two of whom live in NY, and I never see them.

We went to Union Square at this cool place called “Republic“. Asian inspired restaurant, that was rather tasty.

*sidenote*: I was eerily distracted by this big buff brotha……with his arms around this small, wiry white dude. I mean, I know the gays are a regular thing now, but I couldn’t help but stare. I felt like a lil white kid who saw her first black person.

Anyways…

…I don’t know how it started but one person pulled out their phone to check something or send something, then someone else pulled theirs out to compare, and another pulled her phone out to exchange some info, and……I just left mine in my purse.

They all had big, pretty screens, with QWERTY keyboards and email. I was reduced to my ragamuffin phone from 2005. Don’t get me wrong, I did upgrade my phone in the fall of 2006……Bluetooth was a must! But that phone recently decided to stop charging on me, so I had to revert back to the old phone.

Either way, both phones are extremely outdated and rather unsophisticated.

Oh the pressure to stay hip and cool with a smart phone!

I mean, who REALLY needs an iBerry??? (i do, i do!)

The pseudo was tryna buy me a phone (and has since moved onto other things). I don’t know why, but he likes to buy me stuff. Good stuff. NICE stuff. I’m still not entirely comfortable with the idea, but he insists. I can’t let him do it. I just can’t.

Grrr, why can’t I just take the gifts??? I’m so prepared to give them back if/when this thing dies out (yes, I’m a pessimist.) Except my purse. What’s he gonna do with it anyway?

Did You Feel More Informed Afterwards?

Can’t say that I was impressed by the Presidential Debate on Friday. But I am impressed that I sat and watched all 2 hrs. I think this is the first year I’ve done that. And I’m looking forward to watching the vice-presidential candidates face-off this Thursday, October 2nd.

Oh, and make sure yall get registered to vote too. Hit the DMV, the post-office, or go to a website, fill out the form, and mail it in! http://www.rockthevote.org/

Whatever you do, do it NOW! Do it TODAY!

But yeah, ummm……I wasn’t overly moved or excited by either candidate during that debate. All the hype over having this debate, and it wasn’t even all that. All I heard was Iraq, cut spending, health-care, Afghanistan, Iran, Russia, alternative energy sources, something about us sending $10 billion a month overseas (WTH?!?), no direct comments on the bail out, cut more gov’t spending……waa-waa-waa, and so on.

One comment that stood out to me was while McCain was going on (and ON) about how the gov’t needs to cut spending in order to start getting the economy back on track, Obama pointed out that McCain approved the budget and voted with “his” president during the 8 years that we did all this extra, un-wise spending. So ummm, where was all the concern then?

McCain didn’t seem to have a response for that.

That was a GOTCHA! moment for me.

Another comment was during the Iraq segment, McCain was pumping up this surge strategy that apparently “worked” recently during the war, and how Obama was against this successful strategy from jump. Obama clapped back with (and I’m paraphrasing), “John, you act as if the war started in 2007. The war started in 2003 and had it not been for poor planning and poor strategies to begin with, that surge wouldn’t have been needed.”

Barack, I was saying the EXACT same thing.

GOTCHA!

I’m sure I’m overlooking some good points here and there (apparently they didn’t matter that much to me), but overall……I’d call it a weak draw between the two candidates, with a slight edge towards Obama (based off his two GOTCHA-GOTCHA’s). I’m sure my slight bias also played a factor, lol.

But I will hand it to McCain that he managed to stand his ground more than I anticipated. With all his side-stepping before the debate, he didn’t seem as unprepared as I thought he would.

Riding for Others……

……only for them to drop out on you.

Ain’t that a bitch?

Folks come to you, wantin you to step in and have their back on something, got you all pumped up, then their punk ass later decides “it wasn’t that serious”, and steps down. Meanwhile, you’ve already gone above and beyond for this person……for no damn reason.

Is that just a casualty of friendship?

Naw pimpin, lol. I am SO cool on being the strong arm. Don’t call me for backup, cuz I’mma tell you to “let it go, and just walk away”.

Why is it so hard to walk away?
