I’m Long Overdue
Its beyond time for me to upgrade my phone. Seriously. I went to dinner with some old friends from college - two of whom live in NY, and I never see them.
We went to Union Square at this cool place called “Republic“. Asian inspired restaurant, that was rather tasty.
*sidenote*: I was eerily distracted by this big buff brotha……with his arms around this small, wiry white dude. I mean, I know the gays are a regular thing now, but I couldn’t help but stare. I felt like a lil white kid who saw her first black person.
Anyways…
…I don’t know how it started but one person pulled out their phone to check something or send something, then someone else pulled theirs out to compare, and another pulled her phone out to exchange some info, and……I just left mine in my purse.
They all had big, pretty screens, with QWERTY keyboards and email. I was reduced to my ragamuffin phone from 2005. Don’t get me wrong, I did upgrade my phone in the fall of 2006……Bluetooth was a must! But that phone recently decided to stop charging on me, so I had to revert back to the old phone.
Either way, both phones are extremely outdated and rather unsophisticated.
Oh the pressure to stay hip and cool with a smart phone!
I mean, who REALLY needs an iBerry??? (i do, i do!)
The pseudo was tryna buy me a phone (and has since moved onto other things). I don’t know why, but he likes to buy me stuff. Good stuff. NICE stuff. I’m still not entirely comfortable with the idea, but he insists. I can’t let him do it. I just can’t.
Grrr, why can’t I just take the gifts??? I’m so prepared to give them back if/when this thing dies out (yes, I’m a pessimist.) Except my purse. What’s he gonna do with it anyway?

Oh lawd! Please update your phone girl. I ended up in a similar situation which prompted me to get a new one. I can’t stand to hear all the things their phone can do, that mine can’t. Blah to that!
um, do you really need a new phone right now? I recall some talk about student loans and cutting back on cable
tell satan to get behind thee
if he’s buying the phone, get it. sounds gold diggerish. i understand your apprehension. but a gift is a gift my friend…particularly when all those other bills are calling!
@GC……”need” is definitely a strong word. I guess I don’t really “need” it……I just feel so useless without it! LOL. I def can’t afford to make that investment just yet. Alas, the suffering continues. *sigh*
you heffas are killin me!!!!!
im not a keep up with the Jones’ type person…EXCEPT when it comes to phones. i live through mine so i always have to have not the newest, but the best. newer isnt always better (for ME anyway). i love my Treo. LIVE through it. and as soon as the 800P comes out im on it.
treat ur phone like a good pair of boots. its a necessary investment to meet your needs.
as far as gold digging…GET UR OWN SHIT!!!!!! and tell that simp ass pseudo to quit tryna buy ur love. he’s already got you without it.
ps…
that title had me thinkin this post was gonna be about something compleeeeetly different.
