Collection of Thoughts
WORK
Today marks 3 yrs I’ve been working with for my employer. Longest I’ve been with any company. Work has been like my rock, since moving to NY. Its the only thing that hasn’t really changed or shifted (dramatically) over the last 3.5 yrs that I’ve lived here. I didn’t think I could stay anywhere this long, but this has shown me that I do have the ability to stay put.
HEALTH & BEAUTY
Today marks the second day that I’ve arisen at 6am to work out with Exercise TV and stayed focused on my diet plan (eating Lean Cuisine’s…only). I feel good.
I’m, like, STUPID determined to get under 200lbs. Yes, I just put my weight out there. Fuck it. I’m over 200 lbs! And have been for too long. Well, by the end of this year, I’ll be singing a different tune.
That’s…really my only sincere focus for the rest of the year. Yes, I want to explore new career opportunities (I’m sending out resumes here and there), and yes, I want to explore new residential options (I’mma start looking next month). But if I’m doing anything for certain, its working out, and not eating out.
MEN
Ain’t a damn thang changed.
But I guess to sum it up, I’ll do a quick timeline:
2006
- Moved to NY. Someone lingering back in California, but not enough to keep me there.
Name: C
2007
- Finally made friends, and started going out.
- Met 3 men between the months of February and March.
Names: B, J, & Malcolm (yeah, 2 have the same initial, so I had to switch it up). - Really jumped it off with B. The others…never really got out the gate.
- After some serious runaround with B…he tells me he has a new girlfriend. Where did she come from?
- I ended the year in heartbreak and disappointment.
Was so glad I had C back in California. At least I knew he was in my corner. (Only…I didn’t know what I would find when I went back to said corner.) - Nothing significant really happened with J and Malcolm. We’d talk here and there, but that’s about it. I guess I ended up being “just friends” with them, by default.
- Malcolm was so wack, I’m actually better friends with his friends, than I am with him. Though we did have a random holiday frolic after my ordeal with B was over.
2008
- C had been foolin’ around in places he had no business foolin’.
- Had me fooled.
- Heartbroken yet again in less than 2 months, I was done with men for the rest of the year.
- Somebody met me on my birthday (the pseudo BF I’ve mentioned before), and he hung around for about 3 months. Then I had to send him on his way. I just wasn’t with it.
- But I couldn’t get out of 2008 without sparking up conversation with B yet again.
2009
- I’m over the heartbreak(s), and ready to “get back out there”.
- B and I are on good terms. We’re “friends”, or something.
- Cinco De Mayo, I find myself back in the arms of a familiar lover. Damn, it was good to feel the warmth of a man again.
- That “affair” lasted longer than it should’ve, and got a lil crazy a month later.
- July 2009…and I haven’t met anybody new in 2 years.
How’s that for a quick timeline?
MUSIC
Pulled out my Maroon 5 – Songs About Jane album. Luh-huh-hove Maroon 5! They are on my white boy list, which also consists of:
- John Mayer
Robin Thicke
Paul Walker
Luke Walton
Ryan Phillippe
I’m really into Pleasure P right now. I have no idea why, but I like him. He kinda reminds me of Ne-Yo. Just a lil less gentlemanly.
I’ve added him to my young boy list, which now consists of:
- Mario
Trey Songz
Chris Brown
Lloyd
Pleasure P
Yes, dammit. I’m still rockin with Chris Brown. The man has asked for my forgiveness, and I’m given it to him.
Speakin of young boys…
MEN…again
What’s with all of these high school boys lookin’ like grown men? They tryna get B. Good caught up in some mess, for real.
Guess that’s the good & bad of getting older. You can look back and see a (long) line of available men that weren’t there before, but it gets harder to see where legal starts, and jail bait ends.
