Today’s Word: “Today is Your Day”

[Word given by: Pastor Lopez, as interpreted by me]

I must first begin this post by saying…God is Alive. He is so real. When you read yesterday’s post, and read this word today…you too will know. For sure. I am a witness.

Reference: John 5:1-19

The story in this reference is about a holy place, an oasis of sorts, where the sick, blind, and broken come to these waters to be healed. An angel stirs the water, and the first person to step into the water will be healed of their affliction. There’s a man that had been lying in an infirmary, right near this oasis, for 38 years; unable to walk, and unable to step into the waters.

Jesus saw him lying there and asked the man, “Do you want to be made well?”

The man said yes, but that he didn’t have anyone to help him walk into the waters, and every time he’d get close, someone else would step into the water ahead of him, and receive the healing before he could. So he just stayed in that same place. Waiting.

Jesus told the man, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk.” Immediately, the man got up, and was able to walk. Just like that. He didn’t have to wait for the waters to stir, he didn’t have to be the first to jump in. Jesus said it, and it was done.

Many of us have been stuck in bad place…an infirmary…for a long, long time. I haven’t been stuck quite as long as the man in the story (as I’ve only clocked in 27 years of life), but I can’t imagine going on for another 10 years in the same bout.

Things happen to you when you stay in the same place for a long period of time. You become methodical, you become dependent, you develop a routine, you get set in your ways. So much so, that you can see the miracles around you…you can see others receiving blessings ahead of you, but you’ve sat in the same place for so long, you gotten so comfortable where you are, that you can’t see your way out of that spot and to the blessing. You’ve settled. Wondering when is your time? [Ooo, if this message wasn't for me!]

TODAY IS YOUR DAY.

Your time is right now. Immediately.

Jesus asks, “Do you want to be made well?” In other words, do you want to be saved?

Why does Jesus ask this? Isn’t it obvious? But you have to make the choice. You have to decide what kind of life you want to lead, because not everyone wants to be saved.

And when you reply yes, what does God say? “When I move, you move.” (Just like that, lol). See we thought it was Ludacris who said that! Haha.

You have to be ready to move when God says so. When He says its time to get up and walk, its time to take advantage of this opportunity I have for you……you can’t hesitate. You can’t stop to think about it. You have to act. Immediately. [Somebody say, "Immediately!"]

If you want change, you have to do it now. Not later. Jesus says you don’t have to wait. You don’t have to wait for an angel to stir the waters, and you don’t have to be the first to jump in. Your blessing is already in place. Rise…let go of that spot…let go of that rut…and go get your blessing.

LET GO and LET GOD.

Later on in the story…

After the man gets up, he walks to the temple where Jesus finds him. Jesus tells the man, “Now that you are made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing will come unto you.”

Jesus is telling the man that now that he’s left that troubled place he was so familiar with, he cannot go back. The consequences will be great, if the man does not follow through with his blessing.

For us, this may mean we have to leave some people behind, some activity, a hangout, a habit.

This is Jesus working on us. He wants to free us of our sin, and make certain that we do not return to our old ways. The lesson here is…don’t run. Don’t run. Let God work. Don’t let the Devil dupe you into going back to the ways of the world.

Take yourself to the temple, take yourself to a place of worship, Praise God for saving you, and STAY THERE until He’s done with you. It’s a struggle, no doubt, but you keep going back. Keep going back to the Lord, and don’t let the Devil get you down.

I was enthralled with this word. I was “Amen”-ing and Thanking the Lord like crazy for bringing me into church today.

It was at this point in the service, where the Pastor looked me right in my eye, and called me forward for an anointing. He knew…God told him…that I was in need. That there’s been missed opportunity in my life, and God wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss another one.

Yall, this Pastor doesn’t know me. I’m brand new to this church. He doesn’t know my name, where I’m from, or my circumstances. Only God could have told that man about me. Only God could have told the Pastor that I was ailing, and needed a healing. I called on Him, and He responded right away.

GOD TOUCHED ME TODAY!

He saw me. He saw me lying motionless in a bad place, and commanded me to move. Immediately. Just like that. You better believe, I’m moving with the Lord. Right now. I’m not letting another opportunity pass me by.

GO GET YOURS!
