Exploring New York
There’s always something to do in New York…(just not always someone to do them with).
I think in 2010 I’m going to take the opportunity to “tour” my city (while I still live here).
A few things on my list are:
- Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island
- Empire State Building
- Broadway Play
- Apollo Theatre
- Ride a Sight-Seeing Tour Bus
- Sex and the City Tour
- Yankee Stadium
- CitiGroup Stadium (Shea Stadium is no more)
- Museums:
- Natural History
- City of NY
- Guggenheim
- Brooklyn Botanical Garden
- New York Public Library
- Ferry to Staten Island
- Rockefeller Center Observation Deck
- Wander around:
- Central Park (visit the Zoo; take a horse & carriage ride)
- The Village
- Dine at:
- Russian Tea Room
- Four Seasons
- Rainbow Room
- The London NYC (a Gordon Ramsey restaurant)
- Craft (Tom Colicchio’s restaurant)
- Stay at:
- Waldorf-Astoria
- Alvin Ailey Dance Company
- Chelsea Piers
Ok, so maybe that’s more than a few.
This list may expand as I think of other things to do. And I realize…I may not do everything this year. But at least the list has been generated, so I can stay focused and keep these goals in mind.

I went to NYC twice in 2008 and I’ve only done two things on you list, kind of. My main purpose for going to NYC both times, was to see a play, Cat On a Hot Tin Roof and Thurgood Marshall. I walked past the Apollo Theater on my way to Carol’s Daughter.

I admire your ambition to really see the city you live in. I should probably do more of that myself. We have a lot going on at Chelsea Piers right now, and since the Piers are on your list, there’s no better time to check it out.
One of my favorite events is coming up on Feb. 26 – Date Night at the Golf Club. Bring a date, bring a friend, come alone – everyone is welcome. From 6:30-8pm, enjoy open hitting on the driving range, an open wine/beer bar, professional instruction from our Teaching Professionals, snacks and access to the Full Swing Simulators. Only $30 per person and it’s a ton of fun.
Hope to see you around the Piers soon!
Best,

Wow! That’s a good list of things to do. I’ve lived in NY all of my life and I can prob count on one hand the things I’ve done off of that list. Ok, maybe it’s more than a handful, but none of the super touristy things. LOL.
Alvin Ailey is THE BEST tho! =)
