I Miss My NY Homegirl
Life has been pretty dull since she left. I’ve been pretty dull since she left. This blog has been pretty dull since she left.
No one to shop with, eat with, drink with, party with, chillax with, talk mess with……
……NY isn’t as fun without her.
*sigh*

On the Up and Up
Just finished my annual performance review with my manager.
Lately I’ve been frustrated with my job, but nonetheless, I worked my ass off and got rave reviews. I’ll have to wait until December to find out what the pay-off will be for my efforts. It better be good (no pun intended).
The talk actually helped me feel better about going forward in this position and under the tutelage of my manager. We’re actually very much alike - young, smart, talented, driven women - and the area we struggled with the most is communication. But hey, we’re techies! We don’t DO communication, and I have my own personal issue with communication, so I gotta do better with that in the future. I’m only hurting myself if I don’t (hence the built up frustration).
I’m light-weight excited about the projects coming up for the next year. But one thing I refuse to do again, is event planning. Somehow……(because I’m so damn competent!)……I got suckered into planning our Annual Sales Kick-Off Meeting. Dammit!! I’ll be glad when Thursday afternoon (3pm to be exact) finally comes around. I think I’ll celebrate that night, and stay home on Friday. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.
But at least the higher ups will know my name. Could be a good or bad thing, depending on how this event turns out.
And in the time of economic struggle (both nation and world wide), my company is actually doing fairly well. Praise.Him!! While the threat is still out there, I can say that I’m comfortable with the likelihood that my company will not only keep me around, but also increase my earning potential.
So yeah, all in all, things are definitely pos-i-tive.
P.S. Watch this clip on Colin Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama.

To Twitter?
I’m startin to wonder if I should get on board with this Twitter phenomenon. I know I’m extra late, but it seems a lot easier to keep that up to date than it is by making blog posts.
Anyways, I just saw the Southwest Airlines commercial, where they tell the guy that his luggage is free, and the folks in the airport break into song, and some woman is in the background freakin that “Haaalllelujah”. LOL, it cracks me up EVERY time.
I notice that every time I’m in the bathroom at work, and I finish doin’ what I gotta do, the “automatic” air freshener always goes off. I know its supposed to be on a timer and err’thang, but uhhh, why it always gotta go off when I get through, hmmm?
Its not that I don’t wanna go out. Its just that I can’t afford to. Maybe next month.
GO TROJANS! So, I’m into football and err’thang, but if I can’t watch USC play……what’s the point? They are forever showing me these damn Notre Dame games (like I give a damn) just because I’m on the east coast. I need ESPN Gameplan in my life.
And I need Lisa Salter’s job. I shoulda went that way 9 yrs ago.
If they keep it up, the folks at work are about to see the ugly side of B. Good.
Its about to be Sunday. Great.
Halloween……plans? Do people still make plans for Halloween? It would’ve totally slipped by me (and probably still will) if someone hadn’t mentioned their costume today. I might buy a bag of candy and hand it out to myself.
I wonder how much longer I’ll stay in NY. I wonder how much longer I’ll stay at my job. I’m half-way to being fully vested in my 401(k). That’s the farthest I’ve gone with an employer. Can I hold out? Should I hold out? I probably should. I’m thinkin’ I will. But it won’t be doin’ the same thing I’m doin now, that’s for sure.
See all of that would be way cooler in Twitter, huh?
Naw, it still woulda been lame, lol.

I’m Long Overdue
Its beyond time for me to upgrade my phone. Seriously. I went to dinner with some old friends from college - two of whom live in NY, and I never see them.
We went to Union Square at this cool place called “Republic“. Asian inspired restaurant, that was rather tasty.
*sidenote*: I was eerily distracted by this big buff brotha……with his arms around this small, wiry white dude. I mean, I know the gays are a regular thing now, but I couldn’t help but stare. I felt like a lil white kid who saw her first black person.
Anyways…
…I don’t know how it started but one person pulled out their phone to check something or send something, then someone else pulled theirs out to compare, and another pulled her phone out to exchange some info, and……I just left mine in my purse.
They all had big, pretty screens, with QWERTY keyboards and email. I was reduced to my ragamuffin phone from 2005. Don’t get me wrong, I did upgrade my phone in the fall of 2006……Bluetooth was a must! But that phone recently decided to stop charging on me, so I had to revert back to the old phone.
Either way, both phones are extremely outdated and rather unsophisticated.
Oh the pressure to stay hip and cool with a smart phone!
I mean, who REALLY needs an iBerry??? (i do, i do!)
The pseudo was tryna buy me a phone (and has since moved onto other things). I don’t know why, but he likes to buy me stuff. Good stuff. NICE stuff. I’m still not entirely comfortable with the idea, but he insists. I can’t let him do it. I just can’t.
Grrr, why can’t I just take the gifts??? I’m so prepared to give them back if/when this thing dies out (yes, I’m a pessimist.) Except my purse. What’s he gonna do with it anyway?

Year of the Fearless
I even gotta downgrade my cable and cell phone services. *sigh* I guess I didn’t really need the We channel, Animal Planet, Showtime/HBO (I interchange depending on which shows are airing), and all those Music Channels.
But I’ll still have ESPN, MTV, Bravo, Lifetime, and my HD stations, so……I guess I’ll survive. I can’t downgrade further than that tho. Basic Cable??? Eck! Standard is bad enough.
So that means I gotta watch all I can by tomorrow. And my DVR is 92% full. I have a busy night ahead of me.
I bought a treadmill. Damn thing tried to kill me when the weight loss program decided I needed to run. Bastard. But I ain’t no punk. I’m hangin’ tough. Though I just got my hair did, so I might not be runnin’ quite as hard as before (I know Dr. Ian said that I need to get over that hair excuse, but dammit, he doesn’t have to deal wit it or pay for it! - Lord knows I wish he DID tho!!!).
I went and acquired some new music today.
This orangy-ness in my background is starting to irk me. I’ll be switching it up soon.
First day back at work……I was missed. YEAH! Got ‘em right where I want ‘em. Suckers.
